Greater duckweed is a floating plant which is seen in ponds, lakes, marshes, river backwaters, and slow-moving currents.physiologically and morphologically  they are different from terrestrial plants. Spirodela polyrhiza is a single thallus plant with floating leaves. They are smaller and fast growing type. They prefers fresh water and the ph range is between 6 to 8.
