Overview: When it comes to aquarists, orange Sakura Shrimp are also known as Orange Pumpkin Shrimp and Sunkist Shrimp, among other names. Neocaridina Davidi is the scientific name for this species. They are freshwater dwarf shrimp that can only be found in Taiwan and the surrounding areas. As a result of their stunning yellowish-orange colour, they are one of the most popular fish to maintain in an aquarium. With their aggressive breeding habit, these orange sakura shrimps are among the most prolific kinds of shrimp due to their high reproductive output. One of the advantages of these shrimps is that they help to keep the water balanced and the environment clean by preventing the formation of algae and wastes in the aquarium and by cleaning the surroundings. In comparison to male shrimps, fully matured female shrimps are noticeably larger than male shrimps. In addition, the female shrimps have significantly longer tails than the male shrimps. Orange sakura shrimp have a life expectancy of up to 2 years if they are maintained in good condition.

Habitat: These attractive orange shrimps prefer to reside in freshwater aquariums rather than saltwater aquariums. Adaptable and durable, the orange sakura shrimps are a popular food for many people. They are readily adapted to either hard or soft water conditions. If the tanks are well-planted, the shrimps will not need feeding on a regular basis; however, if there are not enough plants or algae grown in the tanks, algae supplements, blanched vegetables, or shrimp food may be given to them to supplement their diet. They are excellent tank mates since they are very quiet. Because of their non-aggressive character, they are an excellent choice for aquatic environments.

Water parameters: If you are keeping a shrimp in a tank, the minimum tank size should be 2 gallons in volume. The water in the tank should be changed 10-20 percent every week in order to maintain the amount of nitrate at a minimum. When growing plants in hard water, a gH of at least eight is necessary in order for them to display their full colour potential.

Temperatures range from 20 to 29 degrees Celsius.

pH ranges from 6.5 to 8.

gH- 8 – 12

The orange sakura shrimp are very adaptable and can survive in a broad variety of water conditions; as a result, they are quite simple to take care of. They may get acclimated to both hard and soft water over time. They are scavengers that feed on algae and garbage in bodies of water and do not need feeding very often. In fact, overfeeding may be a contributing factor to their demise. There is one very crucial point to keep in mind: there should be no Ammonia or Nitrite in their water tank at all time.

Are You Aware of This?

Due to their almost identical colour, Orange Sakura Shrimp and Red Cherry Shrimp are sometimes mistaken with one another. The brilliant sunny yellow-orange hue, on the other hand, distinguishes them from the rest of the crowd.

Caution: Copper is harmful to invertebrates; as a result, avoid any food items, plant fertilisers, and pharmaceuticals that contain copper in any form, even those that are naturally occurring. In the event that you keep shrimp in your tank, constantly check the labels and make certain that the things you use are copper-free before employing them.
